Nadine
Artisti - Artisti Internationali 2000 +

Nádine is nothing short of a superstar in her home of South Africa – with a virtually unmatched sales record of over half-a-million over a career that began when she as just a teenager. Now 2010 sees this beloved singer stretch her wings into Europe where her award-winning album ‘This Time I Know’ is released, introducing a worldclass adult contemporary artist to the territory through an album that’s been critically acclaimed in her home country.

It was her crystal clear yet emotive voice that was Nadine’s calling card into the bigger international waters: we were instantly struck by its power when we heard a song of hers on a compilation during a visit to the country. We rapidly set about working with Nadine’s longtime record label, EMI South Africa, to lay plans for recording a worldclass record that matches the best adult contemporary and pop albums released globally.

With pre-production and recording in Belgium, Sweden and South Africa, ‘This Time I Know’ makes full use of the talents of Nick Manic – a Stockholm based songwriter and producer who has worked on many high profile projects, including several of Simon Cowell’s groups (including Westlife and Il Divo) as well as co-writing songs for the likes of Backstreet Boys, Natalie Imbruglia and Celine Dion. Manic penned first single, “This Time I Know It’s For Real” and co-wrote ‘I Will Be Strong’.

Other highlights on the album include ‘Coming home’ and ‘Kissing You’. Refreshingly, Nádine is under no illusions that her European release is going to be anything other than hard work. “I started out just going from city to town to village in a touring van asking to play my music and entertain people and that hard work is something I am prepared to do again,” this exceptional artist simply states.

Newcomers to Nádine will be happy to know that the album ‘This Time I Know’ reflects both sides of the now older artist’s creativity: a song like ‘Africa Spore’ (co-composed by Nadine) is a thoroughly enjoyable link with Nadine’s Afrikaans roots in South Africa. And the rest of ‘This Time I Know’ is the sound of a teenager all grown up; a woman whose time has come to make her mark on the wider stage that has been waiting for her all along.

The release of ‘This Time I Know’ comes in a year in which Nádine’s star is already rising on the global music scene following her recent triumph in the World Peace Song festival. In February organisers OGAE Italy revealed Nádine’s song “This Time I Know It’s For Real” had beaten off competition from the likes of Coldplay (England’s entry) and Ladyhawke (New Zealand) to take the crown.

It’s also in a year in It’s no surprise to her legion of South African fans that Nádine is poised for success overseas: over the past 15 years, through a slate of records, brilliant live performances and radio-hits, the singer has cemented her place in their hearts and earned herself a position in the South African music industry that’s only occupied by a rare few. Indeed, the success of the recently released DVD Nádine Live in Europe in her home country is further proof of Nádine’s ability to continue captivating her home fanbase whilst preparing for an international push.

Refreshingly, Nádine is under no illusions that her worldwide release is going to be anything other than hard work: “I started out just going from city to town to village in a touring van asking to play my music and entertain people and that hard work is something I am prepared to do again,” Nádine says. Already a DVD showcasing the first days of her European journey - Nádine Live in Europe – has been released in South Africa to much acclaim. “I am so excited about what this next phase in my career is bringing,” this exceptional artist simply states.
